This is a project I did in my personal time, I modeled a simple character in Blender and rigged it for animation. This was all done in terms of making a 3D avatar to wear in VR. The model had an active lipsync based on Visemes, passive blinking and a set of toggle controls for eyebrow emotions. As well as being fully poseable. From the beginning I knew I wanted to use Poyomi’s toon shader to add an outline to my character, to match my personal art style, having the shadows look like cel-shading was also part of this.

During the project I learnt basic figure modeling, rigging, weight painting, texturing (image textures) and adding materials/shaders in Unity.

For testing I imported my avatar into the game: VRChat where I ironed out issues with weights and lipsync as well as the toggle controls for facial expressions.
